Nails

Many spas offer grooming treatments for fingernails and toenails, which might include cleaning, shaping and polishing the nails themselves, as well as cuticle care. Good pedicure treatments can prevent the occurrence of painful ingrown nails.

Neurocosmetics

A new generation of skin lotions that emerged in the first decade of this century, neurocosmetics act on the cutaneous nervous system. There are clusters of nerve fibres on the surface of the skin, which enable it to react to heat and cold, pain, pressure, and any form of irritation. The nerve fibres transmit these sensory messages via the spinal cord to the brain.

Manufacturers of neurocosmetics claim that their products enhance the communication networks between your skin surface and your brain, as well as within the brain itself, promoting feelings of wellbeing at the same time as reducing the effects of ageing and improving sleep quality. An ethical debate has already begun on the wisdom (and indeed the usefulness) of manipulating our emotions with the use of creams.
