Tory reviews Ushvani, London
WOW!!!
I have always been an avid spa goer, knowing in detail the likes and dislikes of my surroundings with such an attention to detail, my friends often laugh at me.So when a spa offers the 6* standards that Ushvani proclaimed, i set my sights very high indeed.
When booking the appointment via telephone the young lady walked me through the treatment menu making sure i would receive a personalised treatment for my needs. She told me about the facilites that they have to offer and the best way to enjoy these to gain the most from my spa journey. At the end asking me if i would like a confirmation email and or a text message.
Included in the treatment confirmation the information detailed the standard facility time, treatment start, but also informed me I could take my own MP3 player so i could listed to music i like rather than the standard spa fair!
Upon arriving i was taken aback by the front of the building, i did double check the map that was included in the confirmation email just to make sure because the building blended into the surroundings and only a discreet plaque told me i had indeed arrived at the spa.
Upon being escorted from the front door i was asked to take a seat whist the young lady took away my rain sodden shoes and replaced them with some personalised Ushvani slippers, i was given a refreshment towel infused with their signiture fragrance of Ginger and Nutmeg to wash off the grime of the city to my hands and face, i asked if this scent was also the scent in the air and told it was a subtle fragrance which was uplifting.
I then spent 35 minutes using the facilities after being shown how to use each one, when to my surprise a kind soul told me that i had 10 minutes remaining till my treatment started so i knew to dry off and change, this was a nice touch as many times before in other spas i have been relaxing away the time and then taken through to begin my treatment in wet swimwear.
My 90minute Balinese massage was just heaven, so often in a 60 min treatment after a consultation which goes into so much detail (did i not fill in a consultation form with these questions on it?) i start to relax and then told the treatment is over after 50 minutes to be ushered on my way.
Oh no here i was told asked to take a seat so that the questions they were about to ask would determine what i needed to help enjoy the treatment and gain the most from the experience that i was going to receive.
90 minutes hands on time treatment time later, my back (my problem area) has never felt so thoughrly worked on in all my spa days, I was putty in the therapists expert hands. I later found out the therapists go through a further 4 months training in treatments, products and client care.
The products I learned were made and researched by the spa and the therapists to bring the most benefits to me as a client, when asked where else I could purchase these products I was told Harrods and Fortnum and Mason, so therefore I purchased the Ushvani Balm to rub into my shoulders whenever I felt discomfort and needed the pamper at home.
After I tried to gain the courage to enter the outside world from this beautiful cocoon, I was shown to the tea room and sampled the Hibiscus tea, this flower is shown everywhere discreetly in the spa from the wood carvings, the products, the silk batiks hanging from the ceiling in reception and finally this delicately tasting tea, I would of loved to buy some of this also, I was told this flower is the national flower of malaysia and high in vitamin c and a great anti oxident.
The bit I usually do grudgingly (pay) I handed over without a flinch, taken whilst in the tea room so i did not have to stand at reception, I handed over the money with a light heart as I knew the experience was well worth it, ok not for every time I visit a spa as could become quite costly, certainly for special occations and my birthday and christmas presents from now on.
Overall the experience is now the bench mark for everywhere that claims to be the best!!!
