Emily reviews Lucknam Park, Chippenham
We couldn't have asked for more in Lucknam Park.
The service was excellent all-round, the hotel and grounds beautiful, traditional and absolutely peaceful. I was very surprised not to see Mr Darcy galloping across the park... The spa and facilities were also just gorgeous, as were the treatments. The rows of lime trees as we approached the house set the tone perfectly for our stay and the lavender walks and gardens were wonderful.
I shall not forget sipping rose champagne in one of the drawing rooms before dusk, the evening light falling over the lovely furnishings, the huge windows framing the parkland and lovely old trees outside. Our evening of fine dining was just that; exquisite food, delicious wine and again excellent service.
It's the first time I've been away (for two days in total on this trip) and felt as if I'd actually been away for longer - so relaxed it felt at least a week...
Mum, never having been to a spa in her life, had a really wonderful time and has decided to take Dad there for their wedding anniversary and said (clad in white towelling robe, reclining in the Relaxation Room, cup of tea in hand; backdrop: soft grasses waving in the breeze surrounding the hydro-therapy pool): "You know, I could quite get used to this..." Which was the absolute desired effect!
Brilliant to know such a place exists in England not too far away. Needless to say, I have recommended it to everyone I know.
