Liz A reviews Eastthorpe Hall, Mirfield
Approximately 4 years ago I found heaven on earth (some call it Eastthorpe Hall). A place where angels minister to the aches and pains and stresses of our every day lives. I tend to arrive after approximately one hour ten minutes of hell on the M62 which is the only down side of my day. The door opens and I step inside from that moment on I can feel the renewal and rejuvenation process begin.
The angels (staff) guide me gently through the wet spa area after a short swim and a bubble in the jacuzzi I am feeling much more relaxed thoughts of the M62 slipping from my mind. I gaze at the beautifully kept gardens thoughts of a warm croissant and refreshing fruit drink drift into my mind. After the Turkish steam cabinets the muscles in my body are starting to unfurl nicely.
Breakfast ! Amazing how hungry one gets doing very little...
Time for my first treatment. A heavenly hot stone full-body massage in a beautiful, atmospheric, dimly lit haven of tranquility. Just the right amount of pressure in just the right places with the soothing heat of the hot stones. Bliss. Time for some time alone in the relaxation room. Hard to describe this area but the energies are truly amazing it is so easy to drift off in the semi twilight curled up on the comfy leather relaxation loungers. The colours in this room are conducive to rest and recuperation. All is well.
Lunch ! Now this is something else... All I will say is - has to be experienced! The Chef is heaven sent for sure. Sublime.
My companions and I swap our thoughts and experiences of the morning and agree that we all feel a hell of a lot better than when we first stumbled, harrassed through the door. None of us want to leave - ever.
A Little more chill out time in the beautiful rooms of Eastthorpe among interesting magazines and books that are all current and not dog eared (a little foible of mine). Vaguely aware that there may be other guests but hardly ever see anyone as there is space aplenty to feel alone if you so wish.
Time for another treatment. The Eastthorpe award winning signature Facial. A personal favourite of mine. Never fails to disappoint. Designed to float you away on a fluffy cloud and it does that for me without fail. Afternoon Tea Time ! Home-made strawberry sponge cake. Yummmmm.
What makes me drive 50 odd miles along the road to hell at least 3 or 4 times a year ? Because Eastthorpe Hall is the BEST and no other Spa that I have visited comes a close second to it. It is the Spa for beauty therapists to visit with confidence that it will be perfect in every way. Eastthorpe and its handpicked therapists deserve every award they have won and more. My only complaint is that they're too far away for me to come more regularly!
P.S. ever considered Eastthorpe Hall 2 in East Yorkshire???
