Diana reviews Kalmora Spa, Kent
Misdescriptions Act should be thrown at this "Spa". It's not a Spa nor Treatment Rooms - the picture on their website is not the locality of where the spa is - but a manor house in the village of Goudhurst and nothing to do with Kalmora. There were no directions because it's a factory - I had to stop a postman who told me where it was but said 'they'll be closed'. Finally I found the "Spa" which was situated in Finders International Warehouse, the manufacturer of Dead Sea Magik products.
I was persuaded to go to the Spa by The Times online article which is totally misleading. Upon arrival there is a small reception area. I was ushered into the "spa" which was a room with a flotation bath, single waterbed and showerroom. The room was cold (because it's in a warehouse) and the water was cold. You have to stay in the bath (in a foot of water so your tummy is exposed) for at least 20 minutes. I complained about the cold and I was told they'd had a very hot summer and suddenly it became cold (Oh please it was the end of November). Lunch was a salad or sandwich on a plate in one of the treatment rooms of which I saw only two.
The treatments were fine however expensive because of the location. After the flotation my hair was wet but there were no hairdryers, no lockers to put my things into, no seating area to relax in and read a book.
In any case the place was really cold and unfriendly I certainly didn't see lots of lovely pebbles and relaxing areas - I cannot fault the staff who were very good except that when I booked they said they had a group booking that day (suggesting the place was big) - I only saw one other person. This place is fine for people living in Goudhurst who want a quick facial but for me it was a bitter disappointment.
