Thermae Bath Spa responds to the reader review by Angela

We are sorry that the last reviewer was not impressed with Thermae Bath Spa, particularly with the comment about our staff. This is extremely unusual as our staff are trained in customer service and are normally very  happy and willing to help. I will, however, raise this point with our Operational Services Manager who is responsible for the Reception area and the team who work there.

As a Spa which aims to be accessible to all, we offer our customers the opportunity to choose not to hire towels and to bring their own. This is widely advertised in our brochure, on our website and in other marketing literature. This option is particularly taken up by local residents. Towel, slippers & robes are however included in the cost of a spa treatment or package.

As the UK's only natural thermal Spa, we consider Thermae to be somewhat special but we do not consider ourselves a luxury, exclusive Spa and our prices reflect that. Therefore we are not in a position to offer complimentary creams and lotions to all our customers.

The locker system using an electronic SmartBand has generally been well received and the instructions are explained on signs displayed in the changing suite.

At busy times there are sometimes issues with the number of showers and we are addressing this by introducing three new shower cubicles. In the changing rooms there are six hairdryers.  

We believe that our prices in the Springs Cafe & Restaurant are competitive and compare favourably with other eating establishments in the city centre. All the food is freshly prepared on the premises. We are however reviewing our menu for the winter months and will bear these comments in mind.

With regard to the number of visitors, we are very open in saying that weekends are our busiest days and we encourage guests to visit mid-week when it is quieter. However, when it is busy we do limit the number of guests entering the Spa which can result in queues forming.
