Angela reviews Thermae Bath Spa, Bath
I went to Bath Spa, Therme, in November 08.
I was not very impressed. The rooftop thermal pool is wonderful but that was the only good thing.
The staff were unhelpful and brusque, you have to pay extra for a towel and/or a bathrobe, there are no nice complimentary products to use such as body lotion, hand cream or shampoo but there are there are containers of unidentified green gel in the in the showers. The changing rooms have a baffling dual door arrangment and there are plenty of lockers, but there are only six (unisex, communal) showers for all the guests. There were 2 mirrors, and 3 hairdryers, the hairdryers cut out once they get above a certain heat.
The décor in the communal hallways and stair cases is reminicient of a local authority office block. The food and drink was over priced. But the main problem was we went on a Sunday, it was very crowed and there seems to be no limit on the number of people allowed in at any one time, it was overcrowded to the point that it felt like a public swimming pool during half term.
The lagoon pool is very nice, and the views from the rooftop pool were fantastic, but the whole experience was ruined by the crowds, and the queues for the showers, the changing rooms, the mirrors and the hairdryers. We were ten minutes late leaving as we had not anticipated the lack of showers or changing/drying space and when we explained the staff were quite rude about it.
I would not choose to go back.
