Shenene reviews Portland Hall Spa, Southport
Just a quick review of the Portland Hall Day Spa which I visited on Sat 29th August.
I have very high standards and pay attention to detail, so as former therapist myself, my expectations are very high. Unfortunately this place was amateur at the very least.
My appointment was at 2pm and I was expecting to use the facilities within 20mins. There was absolutely no reason to keep you in the waiting area to 'relax' for half an hour before treatments I would have rather done that in the spa or spent the time shopping which i did need to do beforehand. I ended up sitting in the relaxing area getting annoyed, which was certainly not the point of my being there. I then had to enquire twice as to when I would be going through for treatments, in times like these I would expect that someone would keep me informed of any delay before A Client's treatments. I was kept waiting for over 40minutes before I had my time in the spa which was stingy only allowing 30-40 minutes in there.
I chose this spa because it had Elemis treatments and the sauna, which my hotel the Vincent didnt have which is why I chose it. So it was disappointing that my time in there was very limited.
The fruit skewer looked dry so I did not have it, I also did not think the pool water was hot enough. Someone had also turned off the sauna so again it felt like my time was limited with that again, I had to go and inform the receptionist that the sauna was not on so with only 30-40 mins in there this was very disappointing.
Treatments were fine, the facial was fine and my skin looked great for the evening do I was going to, back massage could have been firmer, pedicure was fine, glad it was the full works which i had checked on the phone beforehand.
Spa part was the most disappointing would not visit again. As a therapist I know exactly what I am looking for and what i expect, I am not sure why it has been given four bubbles I would give it 3.
