Semantixx1 reviews Kavala, Chelmsford

I visited Kavala spa on Valentine's Day 2008 with my partner. We enjoyed use of the Infrared Sauna, Smoothie facial and massage which were absolutely heavenly treatments.

The spa itself was clean, balanced and relaxing. The reception area was decorated in earth tones which were accented with tasteful displays of products.

When we arrived our coats were taken, we were offered a drink and we were asked to fill out a short form. Once the form was complete we were shown to the locker room where our robes were hanging with our slippers just beneath them.

The infrared sauna was indeed different from other saunas I have used in that we were able to select music and change the colour of the light according to our mood. Also, despite feeling as hot as conventional saunas, it was definitely more bearable.

After my sauna, I had a Smoothie facial which was incredibly relaxing. The lighting in the treatment room was low and the music was very calming. My therapist was sensitive to my mood and spoke very quietly whenever she needed to warn me of anything, like cold cream being put on my skin.

My facial was followed by a massage that I have to assume was great because I fell asleep!

Staff at the spa are very welcoming and would put a newcomer at ease. They are very knowledgeable about the products they are using and are VERY thorough!

Despite living in London, I have made the trips to the spa on a few occasions since Valentine's Day and the standard has never dropped. The spa is very easy to find whether you are travelling by train or by car.
