Sandra reviews Elements MediSpa, Doncaster
Visited this spa for the day with my daughter. Booking was for..2 hours - spa to be taken first, followed by lunch (requested early 12.00), followed by 4 hours of treatments (joke!) The day was very disappointing, here's why:
arrived after a two hour drive, wasn't offered a drink was taken to "fill in forms" - half an hour later (half an hour late) was taken to spa - asked for a cup of tea please!
entered spa, jacuzzi freezing cold and not working (staff unaware) entered crystal steam room, 2 mins later (just wet!)
called for body wrap and facial, when protested was told they were a therapist down so I "had to" (took less than an hour for both)
sent back into spa, sat in aromatherapy steam room (absolutely no aromatherapy smell whatsoever) sweated off all cream.
phoned reception at 12.25 to enquire about lunch, was told we had been moved to lunch at 2pm.- complained that the day was not going to plan at all and was very disappointed.
by this time all candles in spa corridor had gone out and corridor was left in total darkness
went back into aromatherapy room (jaccuzzi still not working) to find seats too hot to sit on - complained again to receptionist and said we would be leaving straight after next treatment.
luxury pedicure (nice) but taken up 3 flights of stairs for this.
indian head massage (worst ever experienced) my daughter specifically asked for gentle massage (on forms at start) had to tell therapist she was hurting her (my daughter is small and thin, you would have thought they might have noticed)
was told in reception on the way out we could have some spa vouchers to return, here's why I refused them:
nothing I experienced on the day (except the lunch and pedicure) would make me want to return to this spa. The therapists were heavy handed, rushed and just didn't have that erm.. soft touch. The whole place just seems lacking. My strong recommendation would be to visit waterfall in leeds or save up and go to ragdale hall...seriously. Did I feel relaxed when I came out.. No.
