"Reading all the comments - I can see why they had to close down! I bought vouchers through another site in Jan and when I called to make an appointment - they told me they were so fully booked that I couldn't come until Sept 21! So you can imagine my surprise that today when I thought I better ring to re-confirm before heading all the way to Tunbridge Wells - I find out that they have closed even though they had ALL my details to let me know. I'm annoyed, but had I travelled there and found out - I would have been even more furious! So now my sister and I have a random wednesday in Sept off work - for NO reason. "

"Utter disgrace I have been trying to contact them all week to re-confirm my booking for this Sunday and the only way I found out was via Internet. The least they could do was update the phone message!? My original booking in Feb was cancelled by them the day before due to staff shortage-and this was apparently the earliest weekend they could accommodate us... Clearly a poorly ran business, hence it's closure. Now I am down at least £100 (lunch and facials were pre-booked for two)... This was going to be a welcome treat after being made redundant... I am very angry indeed."

"I was due to go tomorrow and have found out only today by trying to call them that they have closed down.... I booked my treatment in January with them and was told i could they did not have dates available until after August. I placed my booking. i have been before and loved the pool and experience allbeit staff were ignorant the place itself was lovely. I am so annoyed that this had happened my money taken and nothing for it. No one thought to let me know, they had my booking, money and details but I am no one. I now have family expecting to go tomorrow, how do tell them after all this time waiting. Disgrace....."

"I had a voucher for a spa treatment- it was only by good luck that i googled to find their phone number and found the spa is closed. I would have turned up and wasted an afternoon- they could at least have let me know, never mind working out getting my money back. Very disappointed."

"I had paid for a day for two a t the spa as part of a charity auction. Being very busy myself finding the time when they could fit me in (hardly ever answering the phone ) and when I could go proved difficult. They always claimed to be booked up for months in advance. My visit is due in six weeks but today I find that they are no longer trading. Needless to say they did not contact me to let me know. Very disappointed."

"I bought 4 tickets last year (Sept) and due to bereavement etc we have been unable to use them until now, which of course is too late. I have contacted my bank re two of them but can't find other two on any statements as I don't keep them that long. I only found out they'd gone out of business by reading the local paper and there was no message left on their answer machine.Pity those who aren't aware it has closed who travel long distances. Thank goodness I didn't book more treatments and lunch."
- Libby 16/08/2011

"Like all these other guests we have tried to call and email and are waiting on a refund after the spa cancelled due to a flood but have heard nothing. Awful customer service."
- Carly 11/08/2011

"have been ringing since 11th July 2011 had no luck getting an answer. now know that they have closed. Have try PayPal to get our money back but as we bought voucher more than 45days they can not help. Now trying our bank to see if they can help as paid by debit card they are sending a claim form. They only good thing to come out of this is that we did not upgrade and reading the reviews we had a lucky escape. "

"I book for 3 people to visit this spa and paid for the lunch and treatments. It was cancelled the Sunday before I was due to visit due to a flood. I now have had no replies from emails regarding my cancellation refund and you cannot get through on the telephone. Has anybody experienced this problem?"
- Marshy 29/07/2011

"Has anyone else been cancelled due to Health & Safety / Enviromental Issues? We were booked to attend Tuesday 12th, booked the lunch etc... 2 nights in hotel... were called and cancelled the Sunday before we were due up (travelling up from Dorset) and yet, we've had no feed back / return calls or emails as to when we can expect our refund...
Anyone else experiencing same lack of Customer Service / Care?"

"This Spa is definitely not fit for Kings & Queens!
The staff avoid eye contact & are unwelcoming, they just seem to go through the motions.
The changing rooms are really small & communal. There is no privacy & not everyone wants to get their kit off in public?!
We had to ask for hand towels for the loo.
The seating area around the pool was not sufficient for the numbers they had booked in. My friend & I had to spend our 'relaxation' time there sitting on what was a decorative version of a park bench as the few 'comfortable' chairs they had were taken.
There were no cups for water & we had to ask & wait for those. These should be checked regularly especially as it is so important you keep hydrated whilst using the steam room & sauna.
Both water machines then broke down.
Loud gurgling could be heard from one of the treatment rooms & this was closed as the sink had brown gunge coming through the plug. My treatment room which was separate from the others was like an unattractive cupboard.
The 'bedroom'area was a nice idea with a huge 'daybed', very comfy to relax in & seemed clean.
Overall the spa is disappointing. The staff need to improve their service & the surroundings need some TLC. There is shabby chic & then there is worn & grubby, this is the latter."

"My overall feeling is, it's too busy and, for me, that is not relaxing. Spas for me are about sanctuary and retreating from the world.
I was, dare I say so, a teency bit bored, but then again I booked the very, very cheapest deal. I waited an age for my Tiara treatment in the bedroom area and it became very evident this was a conveyor belt. My treatment was okay but really short -I should have checked as it was meant to be only 15 mins and had I known would have upgraded. I'm qualified myself and recognised none of the technique used, not to say it wasn't pleasant tho...
For me I needed more to do and that is really unusual for me. It was definitely worth what I paid but I certainly would not pay full price as the net result was not superior to any fairly nice hotel with spa facilities around here. If there was a strong and committed focus on something like Ayurvedic or similar I would have felt happier. As it was this really felt no different to one of the Hammams I have visited for an absolute song in various places. The decor is to die for :-)"

"How many times can they cancel my bookings? How many times will the staff refuse to even make eye contact? When will they ever clean the place? Will the manager ever return my calls? Why do some of the staff stink of smoke? Why did I ever sign up for an annual membership? "

"** Terrible **

Sorry to say this was the worst spa i have ever been to and is certainly not worth the money. In fact im amazed they get any customers through the door. They cannot cope with the volume of offer bookings they get so takes ages to get a booking (took me 6 months) the staff were rude - was greeted with "name?" and that was it, not even a hello ! the spa was very small and changing room tiny - accomodating 2/3 people only & it looked tired and dated. The towels and robes were dirty or marked. floors in steam room dirty. and i had a massage & facial which was ok (not the best and lacked professionalism) and the towel hole was wet and marked showing they had clearly not changed the bed !
I would have complained but i wouldnt go back if they paid me!"

"me and my partner visited this spa last week. I just used the facilities whilst my partner had a full body massage, he said it was fantastic, the therapist was great, she tailored the treatment to meet his needs. The swimming pool was fantastic, its salt water and it was very refreshing. The staff were very helpful, polite and friendly the spa was clean and tidy. All in all we had a fantastic day and hope to go back very soon. Don't take any notice of the bad reviews, we had a great day with no problems, just 100% pure relaxation. Would reccomend to everyone!"

"I have visited the spa twice and on both occasions (in the past 6 months) have found it to be top notch. My treatments were carried out expertly by two lovely therapists and despite what some of these reviews are saying, it was clean, beautiful, fruit and tea was well stocked and all the facilities in full use. I have recommended this spa to friends in the area and all of them have enjoyed it and we are planning to go back for a friend's hen party later in the year. I have visited many spas across the South East and have found this to be one of the best."

"Poor. Avoid at all costs. It will end in tears !"
- Thewholetruth 27/07/2010

"I've visited this spa twice over 3 years and everytime the Jacuzzi has been broken down. Read all the reviews and make up your mind. The place is getting run down. I saw a women mopping the floor with either a dressing gown or towel. Not exactly appealing. It takes days and days to make an appointment. In the end one can end up rather upset. Worse of all customer service can be abrupt if you are lucky, but rude if you are not. If this place tried a little customer service - they'd take a Giant leap. I've learned my lesson !"

"I've treated myself to pampering sessions at the Royal Day Spa a number of times, and I've never been disappointed. The spa is always spotless, and the staff there are always very helpful, and gave gone the extra mile to make my visit special.

I've booked using the Royal Password, and the £10 Last Minute deal, which is amazing value for money. Each time I leave, I feel like I'm walking on air."

"We booked our day based on the website photographs. The photographs did not show the dirt and the shabbiness of this establishment. We were shocked and horrified by what we found. Dirty, soiled sheets on the communal lounging bed, that we were assured were changed EVERY WEEK1!! dirty toilet in the changing room, four scruffy deck chairs to sit on around the pool and the jacuzzi was not working. We had been trying to confirm our appointments both by e-mail and phone, but, when we arrived, we were told that they had made a mistake. We could each only have one 20 minute appointment as one of the therapists had not turned up. Bitter complaints fell on deaf ears and we were very rudely treated. Even the tea cups were chipped!! We paid £64 each for a nine to two pm session. One lady was so disgusted that she left straight away. The rest of us waited and waited. I had repainted toenails for which I was charged a further £20. All in all, a short stay in hell cost me £84. We, who have been to many spas all over the world would never ever visit again and we will make sure that everyone we speak to will be made fully aware of this shoddy, disgraceful place."
- Joan Spiers 24/06/2010

"I booked the £10 spa day and went with a friend, was surprised how small the "spa" is, the changing room are old and dirty and in desperate need of a revamp, the lunch @ £14 for a sandwich, soft drink and a brownie was overpriced and was put together in front of us at reception !!!! The facial I had was nice, but when I came out I realised my friend also had hot stones used on her which I didn't yet we had the same facial !!! I queried this with reception only to be told "different therapists do different things" I interpreted this as if they can be bothered they will give you the hot stones !! Staff on reception were rude and unhelpful, Overall not a very nice experience I wish I had looked at this website on the reviews before I went, I have been to many lovely spa's and both myself and my friend agreed this the worse spa we have ever been too !!!"
- Jazmine 04/06/2010

"After reading reviews on this site I went ahead and booked 3 £10 spa days to take with various friends at The Royal Day Spa. This spa is 2 hours from my home (but I will travel any distance for a good spa!!) unfortunately this was not at all worth the trip. The seats & beanbags in the spa area were mildewed, on one trip the jacuzzi wasn't working (this is one of just five things to do at the spa so was a big disappointment), there were doorhandles missing, on one trip my friend and I were asked to share a locker and a dressing gown (!) it was a disaster. I wrote to the spa and just got a call to say that everything was now fixed and they had replaced the door handle, that was all! Not good enough and definitely won't be going back!!"

"I last visited this spa at Christmas time and had a truly wonderful day. I had given birth to my baby daughter in Sep last year and was feeling exhausted by December. A friend treated me to the works and I have to say it was worth every penny (of hers!!) It was my 3rd or 4th time at the Royal Day Spa it has been more enjoyable each time. The surroundings are an inspiration, the atmosphere totally calming and the staff completely attentive. Looking forward to going back soon."
- Alex Nandra 09/05/2010

"This was the most repulsive dirty spa i have ever, ever had the misfortune to be in in any part of the world. From broken tiles, filthy floors and towels, piles of unwashed cups and fruit skins left lying over the "bed". Showers that didnt work and staff that didnt care. Avoid at all costs."
- eclipse1 27/04/2010

"Visited this spa last week with 3 friends. We only paid £10 each on an offer through lastminute.com. Glad we didn't pay any more it was ok and we all enjoyed our day relaxing and chatting but it was little things that were missing that took the edge of our experience. 3 of us had booked a Tai Chi class but on arrival we asked where it was held to be told it had been cancelled last week! We should have had a phone call from someone but didn't. On arrival at 9am there wasn't any fruit they were still waiting for it to be delivered. There wasn't any plastic bag to put wet swim wear in to take home. There seemed to be a shortage of hooks to hang gowns on - nothing in the toilet to hang gown up when removing swim wear. The mugs for drinks had cracks in alot of them also if you had a hot drink in it they had no handle so were too hot to hold. The picnic lunch was ok but at £14.50 very expensive for what it was. Car parking is in nearby car park @£8 for day. I would not rush back."
