"The Retreat does feel more like a beauty salon than a day spa, but it offers professional treatments in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, and their pamper days are very good value for money."

The Retreat, Crosby - 3 bubbles

This small day spa in Crosby provides a soothing setting to lose some stress, or a quick beauty fix if you need a lift. There's a steam room and sauna, but no other heat experiences or pools. Make the most of your time with lunch, and look out for special offers. Plus chocolates! They know how to spa in Crosby.

"Myself and a few others went on a Groupon Deal and found it quite relaxing but in terms on manicure/pedicure quality it was really lacking. The French manicure seemed to be far too quick for a French - there was no pink layer and don't think there was a top coat either. By evening time my fingernails had chipped, and when I mentioned to my sister and friends, they had exactly the same thing happen. I've been in the past and its been fine but on this occasion I thought it was really bad quality product being used. Also as it was the end of the day, the staff were clearing up around us and we felt hurried out. I actually smudged a couple of nails before I'd even left the place."

"I WANT TO SAY A HUGE BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE FABULOUS GIRLS AT THE RETREAT. IV'E JUST RETURNED FROM A WONDERFUL PAMPER DAY WITH 2 OF MY FRIENDS. THE DAY WAS THOROUGHLY RELAXING FROM START TO FINISH WITH THE ADDED BONUS OF 2 REALLY ENJOYABLE MEALS TO BOOT... THE TREATMENTS REALLY DE-STRESSED US ALL AND WE FEEL TOTALLY RELAXED AND WITH A PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR. THANKS GIRLS."

"I have visited this spa on several occassions, including my hen do, and cannnot praise it enough!! The staff are excellent, very friendly and professional. The pamper day is excellent value for money and so relaxing, it's always top of my birthday and xmas pressie list! I was also there last weekend for a St. Tropez tan which was expertly applied by Emma and still looking good!! Would highly recommend this spa to anyone & everyone!"

"I have just returned from a brilliant couple of hours being pampered at this friendly, welcoming spa. I often go to a spa by myself to fit in with my commitments and found this an ideal place to go. From the initial contact I felt I was in the hands of professionals who took a real interest in explaining and discussuing the nature of the treatments and the benefits each would bring.I was happy to make two more appointments. This is a great local spa and one that I will be using regularly from now on."

"My husband bought me a voucher for christmas, and i wasn't looking forward to going by myself, but i shouldn't have been worried. The salon has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and made me feel very welcome.
I will recommend to all my friends and i will be back, that's a promise."

"I wrote the less than complimentary review posted on the 4th May, last week. I am further disgusted with this "spa" for refusing to refund 10 deposits for a hen date booked over 10 weeks away! Perhaps the spa does not think that they can get the places filled?...in 10 weeks? If you want to go to this "spa", I would recommend that you see the premises before giving them a deposit, and ask to see the 2 broken showers, toilet with no lock, crowded pedicure area, ripped uniforms of the beuty "therapists" and cramped sauna / steam room. I would also recommend that an independent person from a "reviewing body for spas" (if such an organisation exists?) visits this place to give a professional opinion."

"WELL I DO HAVE TO COMMENT ON MY PAMPER DAY....IT WAS FAB FROM START TO FINISH. I WENT TO THE RETREAT LAST WEEK AS MY FRIENDS TREATED ME TO IT AS A PICK ME UP, I WAS MADE TO FEEL EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE FROM THE START. THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND MOST DEFINATELY PROFESSIONAL.MY DAY BEGAN WITH BREAKFAST WHICH I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED, THEN CAME MY PEDICURE WHICH I WAS IN DESPERATE NEED OF....FAB...THEN I HAD A RELAXING MANICURE WITH A GORGEOUS HAND AND ARM MASSAGE. I HAD LUNCH WHICH AGAIN WAS VERY SATISFYING, ESPECIALLY DESSERT..YUM. THE AFTERNOON TREATMENTS BEGAN WITH THE OPTION OF USING THE SAUNA AND STEAM ROOMS WHICH WAS VERY RELAXING, THEN I HAD A VERY ENJOYABLE FACIAL AND BACK NECK AND SHOULDER MASSAGE.I ALSO ADDED TO MY TREATMENTS AS EXTRA A SCALP MASSAGE AND BELIEVE ME IT WAS AN AMAZING. I HAVE TO SAY THAT I WILL DEFINATELY BE RETURNING WITH A GROUP OF FRIENDS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. WELL DONE TO ALL THE STAFF FOR RECHARGING MY BATTERIES FOR ME.THANK YOU.
HELEN F. FORMBY."

"JUST RETURNED FROM A VERY RELAXING DAY AT THE RETREAT. THIS WAS MY SECOND VISIT. THE STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL,APPROACHABLE AND PUT ME AT EASE. THE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH WERE VERY NICE AND PLENTY OF REFRESHMENTS WERE PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THE TREATMENTS INCLUDED IN THE PAMPER DAY WERE VERY GOOD, FOOT SPA, PEDICURE, MANICURE, FACIAL, MASSAGE, STEAM AND SAUNA, WE WERE NOT RUSHED AND IT WAS A CALM STRESSFREE DAY. WELL WORTH THE PRICE! WELL DONE GIRLS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! WILL VISIT AGAIN!"

"Oh dear. Went to this spa last week, for a pampering day(£69.95 for 4 "treatments", breakfast and lunch).(30th April 2010). Went with reservations after reading a bad review, but hoped that all the bad points had been resolved. Not so. The spa seems to have been converted from an old shop / house. After 2 years (from the bad review), the (single) toilet door is still broken. There is nowhere to change. The steam room and sauna are squeezed into what I presume is an old bedroom. There are only 2 showers with flimsy curtains, again, squeezed into a small room. When having a "pedicure", the old varnish was not removed from the edges of my toenails, and there was no attempt at pumicing / hard skin rubbing of feet at all. We were moved around from treatment to treatment quickly, like being in some sort of circuit training in a dressing gown. The meals were below average. (Cold croissants, no wine served with the meal as it says on the advert). There is no parking near the premises, as it is on a shopping street and we had to find a space down a residential street about 300 yards away. The decor is dark brown and dingy. The ceilings in the rooms are badly patched and old looking. The pedicure area lookes like a badly converted kitchen area.
Would not recommend it. Will not be returning."
