SenSpa at Careys Manor, Brockenhurst - 5 bubbles

We were invited to revisit this Thai-themed spa in the New Forest to sample their new range of organic products. The hydrotherapy facilities are impressive, as are the high-quality treatments, though the tranquillity was spread a little thin this time. But one of our favourite spas retains its 5-bubble status.

"We visited the Senspa for a pampering day and were extremely disappointed with it. We found the whole area quite dingy and cramped with only six loungers around the pool, with someone knocking the bottom of it everytime they walked past as there wasn't alot of room, the steam room was very small with the other one out of order. You were given one towel on arrival in your locker and were expected to use this same towel all day meaning that by the time you came to shower at the end of the day, the towel was already cold and wet. I had to change showers three times to find one with hot water and when trying to wash my hair I kept banging my elbows on the side of the shower cubicle as it was so small and cramped. The slippers were quite uncomfortable plastic ones and I heard the receptionist say they had run out by mid-afternoon. I didn't really enjoy the Thai theme, it looked like alot of plastic, dark tiles and bamboo glued to doors and didn't find the menu very extensive or interesting. Having a plate of curry or very garlic chilli vegetables didn't go with the spa theme for me. I have never wanted to go home early from a spa day which really sums it up. Having visited Chewton Glen spa nearby recently, I found that offered much better value for money, was cheaper overall and included breakfast, with Molton Brown products, towels, comfortable slippers and a real feeling of luxury and indulgence that was sorely missing from Senspa."

"I really really enjoyed this place. it was my first holiday with my boyfriend and we now cant wait to go back. the atmosphere was amazing. and the smell was also amazing they always had their heated oil burners on and both my boyfriend and myself enjoyed it so much we had to buy some! the staff there listen to you and i do feel go with the policy the 'customer is always right' the place is well kept and quite easy to find. i really suggest going here. there is also a lot to do outside of the hotel/ spa so don't forget to check that out too!"
