Utopia Spa at Rowhill Grange - 4 bubbles

We were invited to Rowhill Grange's Utopia Spa after the spa's recent facelift. We found plenty to do with the pools, gym and walks in the grounds, and your treatments are tailored to suit your needs. The country-house hotel and the modern spa make a pleasing blend of the traditional and the contemporary. An ideal environment for a day of revitalising and pampering.

"My partner booked me a surprise weekend away here, arriving on Saturday night and leaving Sunday afternoon. The facilities were lovely, but the biggest problem was the massage treatment I paid a whopping £45 for! I booked a back, neck and shoulders treatment, designed to be relaxing, but I was in so much pain that I had to ask th etherapist to finish the massage early. I am a massage therapist myself and was shocked by the 5 question consultation form, which I felt was completley inadequate from a medical point of view, and the fact that the therapist did not set the couch up to a height that was right for her, her back must have hurt!
The worst part was the next day after having left; I had black bruises across my shoulders. Now I expect a nice deep massage with a bit of tenderness, but not to be bruised from it! I know from my own training, she obviously didn't have a sound knowledge of treating people. I just hope the rest of the spa treatment staff are not the same. Ruined my weekend entirely.

The rooms and staff were lovely, as was th efood, but we won't be going back there for treatments!"
