"We treated our mums to a spa day at Moddershall after reading the ratings on the Good Spa Guide.

It's a more personal experience than I'm used to so was pleasantly surprised however it's easy to see why. It is quite a small spa compared to others I've visited so they're not dealing with large numbers. We were shown around the facilities by one of the staff and were then shown to the bar area where we were greeting with a fruit juice of our choice.

We then went on to use the spa facilities. The hydro pool is lovely, sauna and steam were standard, the experience shower is a must and the pool was lovely and not busy at all. However one of the foot baths didn't work. There were heated loungers, however there were 4 of us and only 3 loungers so even when they were free we couldn't chill together which was a bit of a shame. I really wish I did my homework on the size of the place!

We were allocated a lunch slot at 12.30 pm. We did end up waiting for quite a while for our starters and mains, our main meals came an hour after seating. At one point, I asked if we could have some bread rolls to keep us going until starters (as there was butter on the table – not sure why). It was then we were told there was a delay due to problems with the gas. Wish they had told us earlier. So by the time we were done with lunch, it was about 1.50 pm and my sister in law and I had our treatments booked at 2.45 pm which I don't think was enough space between lunch and a massage.

Speaking of my treatment, I realised I'd been booked in for the wrong treatment. When I asked if it could be changed I was told that the therapist wasn't trained in the one that I requested but she would try to tailor my treatment to suit me. That she did and I have to say I was very impressed with it."
