Calcot Spa, Tetbury - 5 bubbles

Sybaritic Spy felt she was missing out on the "luxury or sensuous pleasure" that her nickname demands, so we sent her off to the rural Cotswold retreat of Calcot Manor. The well designed and well run spa with outdoor hot tub and fireplace restored her energy levels and reminded her how important sensuous pleasure actually is. She also discovered an anti-ageing facial that actually worked!

"Disappointing. Having not been for six years I was excited about returning to Calcot Spa but from the off I didn't find the experience relaxing. Arriving for an evening Spa at 5.30 the lounge area was busy and had numerous small children. The spa was crowded and I never got a chance to use the relaxation room as it was either packed and noisy or left in a disappointing state. The facilities are no longer what I would call five star with a number of places in need of a paint job. My facial was carried out wonderfully but the background noisy from the Aerobics studio was off putting and not relaxing. The highlight was drinking a glass of red in the outdoor hottub but don't expect a massage from the jets as it is more a novelty than a practical hottub. The staff were faultless and I did mention my displeasure and the end so hope they will do something with the feedback. If you want a nice evening with a friend it is a good choice but if you want a relaxing spa evening then don't bother."
