What is Anahata yoga?

Anahata Yoga is a flowing, meditative form of yoga that focuses on the Anahata chakra. The Anahata is the fourth primary chakra which is positioned behind the spine, around the heart. It is strongly associated with touch, the skin, the actions of the hand and love, compassion, courage and humour.



What is the aim of Anahata yoga?

Anahata yoga aims to correct bad posture and help respiration, but also aims to open the heart to encourage a sense of calm, preparedness for life and a deeper connection with oneself.

Consult your doctor and your yoga teacher if you have any pre-existing health or mobility problems.


If you are pregnant, try a specially adapted antenatal yoga class. These will include safe, comfortable positions and are designed to help you prepare for labour and birth.

Similar to hatha yoga, Anahata yoga incorporates a flow of postures (asanas), breathing exercises and short meditations.
