Can I get a degree in spa therapy or spa management?
Traditionally spa therapy, beauty therapy and massage were only assessed and taught through vocational qualifications. However, as the spa industry has grown and developed, the demand for a wider and more specialised range of qualifications has resulted in a new breed of foundation and undergraduate degrees in spa-related subjects.
The University of the Arts London (London College of Fashion) offers a two-year Foundation Degree in Beauty and Spa Management. This course covers business management as well as beauty and spa therapies, incorporating a scientific understanding of spa therapy practices.
Also available at The University of the Arts London (London College of Fashion) is a BSc (Hons) in Cosmetic Science. This full three-year degree (or four-year sandwich) is an applied science course designed to equip students with the knowledge and expertise to go on to work as a formulating scientist, work in research and development, or take up a career in cosmetics, perfumery or toiletries. In addition to the course you can opt to complete an industrial placement year, which will result in a further Diploma in Professional Studies qualification.
