I would like to book a Brazilian wax but is it really as painful as people say?
A Brazilian is not for the faint-hearted or the shy.
A Brazilian wax is the complete removal of all hair down under, or in some cases of all except a fine line at the front - the landing strip! You lie on a table, naked from the waist down, then lift your legs up around your ears. The therapist trims your pubic hairs and waxes them. Even the outer labia are waxed. As a final touch, your therapist then goes over the whole area with a pair of tweezers until you are completely smooth. If you have ever had your eyebrows waxed, multiply that pain by the number you first thought of and then add ten!
Booking a Brazilian for just after your period may help a bit as your hormone levels are stable and you may find it's slightly less painful. Aficionados claim it's worth the pain, however, for the ease of wearing a thong and for the added frisson it gives their sex lives. Hairs grow back in about three weeks and there can be a problem with ingrowing hairs after waxing.
