I like a really firm massage. How can I make sure I get one?
Find out what kind of massage and therapist will suit you.
If you like a firm massage, you need the right sort of massage and the right therapist. There are many different types of massage including Swedish massage, Thai massage and aromatherapy massage. See our A-Z of treatments for more detail.
If you book a gentle, gliding form of massage such as aromatherapy, you risk being disappointed. You may find a massage that combines shiatsu points very effective, also a deep-tissue massage, or a sports therapy massage which is really aimed at helping to loosen muscles damaged by activity.
You could also opt for a male masseur or ask for someone with experience in sports therapy massage. And, on the day, tell your therapist before you begin that you like a firm massage. A good therapist always checks when they begin if the massage is firm enough or too firm.
