What will happen when I arrive at a spa?

It will vary from spa to spa.

If you are visiting treatment rooms or a day spa, after you have announced your presence at the spa's reception, the receptionist may confirm your treatment schedule and usher you to a waiting area where you will be asked to fill in a health consultation form. This health form may include questions about pre-existing medical conditions, whether you are currently on medication, pregnant, suffer from allergies, or what you would like to achieve from your treatments.

You might be introduced to your therapists in advance of your treatments, and should hopefully be shown where the facilities are: the changing room, the lockers, WCs, relaxation area and so on.

If you are visiting a spa for a residential visit, you might check in at reception in a similar manner to staying at a hotel, or you may be greeted by a member of staff on arrival. You should be taken to your room, and hopefully a lovely person will be on hand to carry your bags. You may be given a tour of the facilities, and your schedule for your stay should be explained to you.

A good spa should always keep you informed of what is going to happen, where, and when. If you are unsure of where you are supposed to be, what's included, when lunch is or where to put your bag - just ask.
