Which spas are best for hen parties?

Congratulations! Whether you're getting married and planning a hen party, or you're a hen-friend and putting the dream hen-do together, a spa is a great venue for some pre-wedding pampering and bonding. Many spas do great hen party packages, but it's important to find the right spa. After all, no matter how well-behaved your hens are, the last thing you want is to visit a temple of solitude if all you want to do is lounge by the pool, sip champagne and have gossipy mani-pedi sessions.

Here are our hen party spa picks to get you started.

Hens on a budget

If you're counting the cost, that doesn't mean you can't have the hen party of your dreams. There are some excellent bargains around, which you can always find on our spa deals page. The Spa Spies are big fans of the Center Parcs Aqua Sana spas, which, if you book in advance, offer superb prices including two for ones; these will get you a full day of fabulous spa-ing for less than £50 per person. There are four locations, too: Cumbria, Nottinghamshire, Suffolk and Wiltshire. It's also worth considering Butlins, who have spas at their Skegness and Bognor Regis sites, and offer two-night all-inclusive spa breaks at fairly unbeatable prices.

Turkish delights for thrifty hens

Public Turkish baths are infuriatingly few and far between, which is a shame, because if you're after a no-frills spa experience, there's almost certainly nowhere better. Lucky hens in Sheffield, Harrogate and London can visit these wonderful temples to health, heat and happiness for as little as £20 a session. Check admission details, as Turkish baths usually run single sex sessions -- perfect for girly days out.

Mini-break spas

Hop on a ferry and make it a holiday! You can combine a mini-city break with some great spa-ing close to home. Try The Club Hotel and Spa in Jersey, which has a salt pool and thermal suite, and offers stunning views from the roof terrace where you and your hens can sip champagne. Guernsey's Old Government House Hotel has great island views and an outdoor heated pool -- perfect for lounging by. We also loved Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland: six acres of glorious countryside with a beach, too! Hen heaven.

City Days for hens

Stylish hen? Perhaps you need the Swan Party package at London's Dorchester Spa. Choose from their Little Spa Party or the no-holds-barred totally indulgent Luxury Spa Party for Spatisserie pastry treats, champagne and 5-bubble pampering.

Munch on a macaroon at Sofitel So SPA in London for a French art-de-vivre themed hen-do with spa butlers on hand to help you make your day as special as possible, from picking the right music and aromatherapy oil to pouring the champagne!

Cirencester's Le Spa offers a private function room as part of their hen package -- great for getting hens together. You'll love their outdoor hot tubs, too.

Eden Hall has a spa in Newark and another in Yoxall, in the Midlands, both of which make great destination day spas for hens who want to swan around all day in robes.

City Stays for hens

Stay over so you can spa by day and party by night. Go for a city-centre spa so you can enjoy the best of both worlds: de-tox, then re-tox, as it were...

Head to Cardiff for outstanding nightlife, excellent shopping, and, of course, the chance of spotting a lovely rugby player or two! St David's Hotel and Spa offers some great girly getaways with spa sessions and personal shoppers as part of the package.

London's K Spa at K West is perfect for rock'n' roll hens who want to stay in this too-cool-for-school hotel with a superb spa that boasts its very own snow paradise and sun meadow. K Spa is handily just a quick hop from the mighty Westfield shopping mall and the vibrant nightlife of Shepherd's Bush.

Edinburgh's ONE Spa at the Sheraton Grand is in the heart of Scotland's capital city and has a gorgeous rooftop pool, perfect for you and your hens to get the party started.

Stately Home hens

Have a hen party to the manor born in one of the UK's fabulous stately home or manor house spas. Fancy a child-free hen party? Try Thoresby Hall, a Grade-I listed Victorian stately home near Sherwood Forest, with a hammam, aromatherapy cave, and rasul.

Armathwaite Hall in the Lake District dates back to 1650 but, happily, the spa is a little more modern! An outdoor hot tub which overlooks a forest and lake, along with an indoor waterfall, are just two of the treats in store for happy hens who book here.

Matfen Hall glories in 300 acres of tree-filled Northumberland parkland. Healthy hens will enjoy the on-site Go Ape assault course, and indulgent hens will love the spa's fire and ice rooms. Happy hens all round!
