How much does a residential spa stay cost?
How long is a piece of string? A residential spa stay can be as inexpensive as you can find, or as costly as you can afford.
Residential spa stays can be a lot more affordable than you might imagine, but prices vary enormously. You might pay a few hundred pounds for one special night, a thousand for a week, or... by combining special offers, take-a-friend-for-free incentives, and last-minute deals, find it is cheaper to spa than to stay at home!
A residential spa stay could be for an overnight treat with a partner, a mini-break with girlfriends, or for something more specific, such as kick-starting a weight-loss programme, taking some time out to focus on mind, body and spirit, or detoxing in a no-distractions environment. What you're looking for will affect the price you pay.
We asked three Good Spa Guide award-winning spas to offer a few tips and hints on finding the right residential spa stay, at the right price for you.
Ragdale Hall, Leicestershire, advise thinking about what you really want from the spa experience. If it's something specific, such as a weight loss programme or detox break, then look for packages that are designed with that goal in mind, rather than booking accommodation then adding the extra treatments on top. Going for a specially-designed package is a good way to get a great deal.
Aqua Sana at Center Parcs consistently give great value at their four UK spas at Elveden, Longleat, Sherwood and Whinfell Forest. Aqua Sana recommend booking early, and aiming for a mid-week, rather than a weekend break, to get a spa bargain. At Aqua Sana, for instance, there are 15 spa experiences included in the entrance price.
So, if relaxation and spending time with friends is what you're looking for, rather than a package where you will benefit from specific treatments and therapies, booking a mini-break at Center Parcs and then adding on daily visits to Aqua Sana is a tremendously cost-effective way of creating your own spa break.
You can apply the same idea to other residential stays: look for spas which have extensive facilities that will give you plenty to keep you occupied without spending any extra.
Grayshott, in Surrey, recommend reading the small print to find out exactly what you are getting for your money. Make sure when you book a spa break, you compare like with like. Grayshott, for instance, are fully inclusive. so make sure that any suspiciously good deal doesn't land you with a big bill when you check out. For instance, are meals included? What about tea or snacks? Make sure you're getting exactly what you think you're paying for.
