Boo Boo Mummy
Who and what are Boo Boo Mummy?
Mummies Jenn and Corinna 'Boo Boo’' set up Boo Boo Baby after they found that many of the products they used on their children's skin contained dodgy detergents and scary synthetics. And so, Boo Boo Baby was born, providing little ones with natural, luxurious products – without a hefty price tag.
Mums were delighted for their babies, but wanted a similar range for themselves. Boo Boo Mummy was conceived to give mummies a selection of natural products safe for use during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. The Boo Boo Mummy range focuses on such lovely pregnant-lady-concerns as stretch marks and (ahem) perineal massage. Oh, pregnancy… Such a special time!
They Say:
"We couldn't find anything on the shelves that met our demands – full of natural ingredients, affordable and luxurious – so we decided to make our own pampering products.
Whether you've got a bun in the oven or your little ones are all grown-up, it's never too late to treat yourself to some extra special mummy pampering!"
We Say:
"An affordable range that doesn't scrimp on pretty packaging, delicious scents and safe, natural ingredients. Perfect for a pregnancy pamper!"
Boo Boo Mummy products - What have we tried?
The Boo Boo team sent us some of their Silky Soft Body Wash, Super Stretchy Miracle Oil and Soft & Creamy Body Smoother from the Boo Boo Mummy range. They all feel quite fancy with pretty packaging, and their labels proudly declare that there are "NO parabens, sulphates, TEA, petrochemicals, synthetic colours, PEGS or DEA." I'm not sure what risk any of these things would pose to my unborn baby, but I’m always pleased to avoid unnecessary chemicals, and pretty packaging makes me happy. So, a good first impression…

At £9.99, the Boo Boo Mummy Silky Soft Body Wash is cheaper than lots of posh body washes. The body wash does the job well: I am clean; my skin is hydrated; I smell nice, like lemon & ginger. It's hard to feel particularly pampered after having a wash though! So onto the moisturisation...

I tried the Soft & Creamy Body Smoother next. At £14.99 it's a little more expensive than what I was using pre-pregnancy (cocoa butter) – but is still at the lower end of the price range and certainly in fancier packaging than my normal product. The label has a prominent message that the body smoother will "stop those stretch marks!" which never fails to annoy me. I turn cynical, "ohh, yes, of course you stop stretch marks… And will you also make labour pain free?” This is my second pregnancy, I know now: you can't stop stretch marks. If you're going to get stretch marks, you’re going to get stretch marks. So there!
The Soft & Creamy Body Smoother does do lots of good though. You can make your tummy feel hydrated as it stretches, you can relieve itchiness, and you can make yourself feel pampered and lovely whilst you moisturise. The body smoother does all of that, and leaves you smelling like baby powder. Lovely – as long as you like the smell of baby powder.

My favourite Boo Boo Mummy product by far was the Super Stretchy Miracle Oil. Again, there’s some spiel about stretch marks that I will ignore, but once you get past that, this is an affordable body oil (£14.99) that feels like it costs a fair bit more. The combination of passion flower and sweet almond oils smells delicious, and it’s perfect to use alongside the body smoother (or another body lotion) later in pregnancy when you need all the extra hydration you can get. I used it after showering and my skin was hydrated for the rest of the day, which is no mean feat when my bump seems to expand by the hour at the moment…
Sweet Spy's verdict:
I feel pampered after using the Boo Boo Mummy products and I’m happy that I’ve not been using nasty chemicals on my skin. Jenn & Corinna have achieved their goal and developed a range of affordable products for babes and mummies. And, you can buy them at Harrods – it doesn’t get much more luxurious than that!
