Ushvani

Ushvani Spa, based in Chelsea, offers a comprehensive range of South East Asian therapies, from Malaysia, Bali and Thailand. Ushvani's own range of natural products have been specially developed for use within Ushvani spa's treatments. The Ushvani product range draws from the abundance of plants, flowers, herbs, spices and active botanicals native to South East Asia, in particular Malaysia. They contain potent active natural ingredients and are entirely free from all harmful chemicals, parabens, SLES and SLS.

They say: "The Ushvani experience is defined by restorative therapy and healthy indulgence, by unrivalled levels of service and attention to detail at every level. In Asia, restorative therapies and natural botanicals play an integral part in the day-to-day wellbeing of the individual, from infancy right through to adulthood."

We say: "We can't help but admire spas developing their own range of products, especially ones that work so well. Ushvani's products are not cheap, but then we don't see any reason for them to be. A small but near-perfectly formed selection of high quality products equals happy reviewers."

Ushvani
Papaya and Cane Sugar Body Scrub

250ml, RRP £39.50

Reviewed by: Single Spy

Age: 50s

Skin type: mature

Ushvani Papaya and Cane Sugar Body Scrub at The Good Spa Guide

Application: This thick scrub felt surprisingly soft in my hands, and I was able to spread it over my skin easily. The product massaged into a creamy feel, with the sugar crystals providing a gentle exfoliation, not at all gritty. The scrub smelled pleasantly of ginger and spices, a welcome change from some of the zingier citrus exfoliants.

What's in it?: Sunflower seed oil, ginger, bergamot, patchouli and nutmeg.

Effect: My skin felt satisfyingly soft post-scrub, but not oily at all, and I wafted around in a gentle haze of papaya and coconut feeling very pleased with myself. This scrub is not cheap, but is nicely effective, so makes a special warming treat.

Verdict: A smooth, sweet scrub for silky soft skin.

Ushvani
Coconut and Hibiscus Oil

150ml, RRP £35

Reviewed by: Shy Spy

Age: 30s

Skin type: Normal/combination

Ushvani Coconut and Hibiscus Oil at The Good Spa Guide

Application: This oil is solid at room temperature, so it needs to melt for you to pour it out. Holding the bottle under warm water for a short while does the trick. The oil is quite light, so it's easy to smooth on the right amount – you won't end up with greasy limbs!

What's in it?: The coconut and hibiscus oil is literally just that - the only ingredient is organic virgin coconut oil, infused with hibiscus flowers.

Effect: This oil has a very faint aroma, so won't clash with your chosen perfume. The oil massaged into my skin easily without leaving a clothes-staining residue, and left my skin feeling wonderfully soft. It worked well as an overnight hair-conditioning treatment, too.

Verdict: A simple, multi-tasking product with great results. It will suit most skin types, too.

Hibiscus and Rice Facial Scrub

75ml, RRP £29.50

Reviewed by: Sassy Spy

Age: 30s

Skin type: Combination/dry

Ushvani Hibiscus and Rice Facial Scrub at The Good Spa Guide

Application: This product is a little grainy from the ground rice grains, and is cool to the touch. It was very easy to scoop out and apply.

What's in it?: Rose and patchouli essential oils. The scrub is free from parabens, SLS, SLES and mineral oils.

Effect: This facial scrub was great because it did not dry my skin at all. It also proved to be good at smoothing my skin, and it didn't bring me out in spots, as many products do.

Verdict: A mild facial scrub -- effective and kind, even on sensitive skin.

Ushvani
Hibiscus and Kemiri Face Mask

75ml, RRP £29.50

Reviewed by: Sedate Spy

Age: 40s

Skin type: Dry

Ushvani Hibiscus and Kemiri Face Mask at The Good Spa Guide

Application: Apply a thin layer to the face and neck, avoiding eyes and lips, and then allow the mask to dry for 10-15 minutes, before removing with warm water.

Effect: The mask dried quite quickly after application. I left it on for the full duration and it washed off without a hitch. I knew immediately that this was a good mask as there was no dry, tight feeling that you often experience. My face felt fabulously soft and deeply conditioned.

Verdict: A no fuss, no mess mask that I would highly recommend for us girls on the go. It is good value, easy to apply, and effective.
