[ comfort zone ] Sacred Nature

[ comfort zone ] is a luxury Italian spa brand, developed in 1993 by a team of spa professionals and dermatologists, headed by Italian pharmacist, David Bollati. [ comfort zone ] is now a spa brand used in 40 countries worldwide.

The Sacred Nature range is the [ comfort zone ] contribution to the expanding market for natural and organic beauty. The spa skincare line has an ECOCERT accreditation and claims to offer "advanced anti-oxidant skin cellular DNA protection" via its carefully selected natural ingredients.

They say: "The basis of our professional values derives from the Mediterranean culture but also from the heritage of ancient cultures, which have passed on to us the value of taking care of oneself and of sharing spaces and gratifying experiences."

We say: "[ comfort zone ]'s choice of language is a little hard to interpret. Are they trying to baffle us with science or is it a coherence lost in translation? Wade through the jargon, and you'll find a softly fragranced, natural, skin-friendly range of products that are gentle enough to use on almost all skin types."

[ comfort zone ] Sacred Nature Face Cream at The Good Spa Guide

Application: The cream, which looked as if it would be quite heavy, turned out to have a gorgeous silky texture. It completely melted away after a minute of massaging it into my skin.

What's in it? Orange flower, jojoba and butterfly bush extract (that's buddleja, by the way).

Effect: My face felt intensely hydrated for the next few hours and there was no oily sheen on my skin. I was impressed with how moisturising the face cream was.

Verdict: A great product for natural beauty fans with dry skin.

Sacred Nature Mask (for face and body)

[ comfort zone ] Sacred Nature Mask at The Good Spa Guide

Application: The mask is designed to be washed off with water after ten minutes, but I found that it works equally well as a rich overnight cream.

What's in it?: Orange flower, vanilla, buriti oil, shea butter.

Effect: The mask felt creamy and comfortable on my face and rinsed away to leave my skin looking dewy.

Verdict: Primarily a hydrating, rather than cleansing, mask. It would be a fabulous weekly addition to a skincare programme focusing on hydrating and replenishing.

Sacred Nature Gommage (for face and body)

200ml, RRP £35

[ comfort zone ] Sacred Nature Gommage at The Good Spa Guide

Application: The white, pleasantly scented cream smoothed on easily, rinsed away well, and my skin needed less moisturiser afterwards.

What's in it? Butterfly-bush extract, shea butter and buriti oil.

Effect: The scrub contains jojoba particles to smooth the skin, so is robust enough to do its work of making skin soft, and I indeed felt very smooth. I don't know that I felt sacred, but perhaps sacred nature products take repeated applications to resonate with your spiritual core? All in all, an effective, easy-to-use skin cleanser and smoother.

Verdict: A scrub for "natural" lovers that will love your natural skin.

Sacred Nature Oil

200ml, RRP £44.50

Age: 30s

Skin type: Normal/combination

[ comfort zone ] Sacred Nature Oil at The Good Spa Guide

Application: The oil was a pleasure to use as it has a good consistency (not too runny, not too gloopy) and absorbed into my skin with ease.

What's in it?: Buruti oil, jojoba oil.

Effect: My skin felt soft and nourished and not greasy at all. The scent is a little hard to pin down, but is close to the sweet aroma of vanilla and cocoa butter (though these are not main ingredients!) The gentle fragrance would be ideal for those who dislike the powerful smell of zingy essential oils found in many natural body oils.

Verdict: A nice body oil but I would find it hard to justify the expense.

Sacred Nature Cleansing Milk

200ml, RRP £22

Reviewed by: Salubrious Spy

Age: 40s

Skin type: Combination

[ comfort zone ] Sacred nature Cleansing Milk at The Good Spa Guide

Application: Most of my make-up came off relatively easily, except for my waterproof mascara, which was more of a struggle. The lotion felt slightly stingy around my eyes and my skin looked reddish. The cleanser should be rinsed off after application.

What's in it? Organic buruti oil, butterfly bush extract, shea butter, distilled orange-water.

Effect: I didn't quite get this product that seems to be neither one thing nor the other. It isn't exactly a facial wash, but it isn't a cream cleanser either.

Verdict: Overall I found the product too strong for my not-usually-particularly-sensitive skin.
