Balance Me
Balance Me is a range of natural products, created by sisters Rebecca and Clare Hopkins. They're a reflexologist and a yoga teacher respectively.
The Balance Me range is free from petroleum, mineral oil, artificial fragrances and colours. There's no parabens, and the range is sulphate detergent free. Balance Me is proud to be certified by Ecocert.
They say: "We believe everyone deserves a little bit of luxury in their handbag, in their bathroom and indeed in their everyday lives. We have created a range of natural aromatherapy products that contain pure essential oils to optimise health and well-being. We also believe our packaging is simple, yet rather desirable too!"
We say: "We loved these deliciously scented products, and the stylish boudoir-style packaging. Great value natural products that really work -- we liked this range a lot. Try a petrochemical-free balm and you'll never go back to Vaseline."

Application: The balm is a solid wax that melts into a smooth balm when applied to warm skin. Not thick enough to clog but reassuringly present. What's in it? This balm harnesses a modern rose scent – the pure, fresh scent of rose otto oil – which is delightfully light and uplifting. Effect: This balm smells great, and moisturises deeply. Perfect for smooth summer legs, soft hands and feet, or pretty much anything/anywhere else for that matter. Verdict: A luxurious and petrochemical-free alternative to the ubiquitous Vaseline. |

Application: You scoop out a fingertip-full and it quickly melts to a smooth, softly scented moisturiser. Over the months I was testing the balm, I used it as a hand cream, cuticle softener, and lip balm. What's in it? Essential oils include may chang, neroli and calendula. Effect: It's great on rough, dry skin -- try it on elbows and knees in need of a little natural pampering. Verdict: Stellar Beauty Balm now lives 24/7 in my handbag and has become an everyday essential. |

Application: This handcream is so lusciously thick that it takes some persuading to leave the tube. When it does, your hard work is rewarded with a gorgeously scented white handcream that sinks easily into the skin. A little goes a long way so don't squeeze out too much unless you want to look like you're about to swim the English Channel. What's in it? As you rub the cream into your hands the room will fill with a cloud of lavender, patchouli, and geranium oils. Your hands remain scented for a long time after application -- lavender, fading to a soft waft of patchouli. Effect: I have very dry, very touchy, prone-to-eczema skin on my hands and this Super Moisturising Handcream was a joy to use. My skin is a lot less dry and touchy and wafting around in a haze of lavender and patchouli can only make me a happier person. Verdict: The Good Spa Spies are now never without a tube of this amazing cream! |

Application: Balance Me Super Toning Body Wash is thick and rich in essential oils, so you only need to use a little to lather up. The oil is a great complement to the wash; smooth onto your limbs and enjoy the vibrant scent. What's in it? Both the oil and the wash are packed with bergamot, geranium, juniper and lavender essential oils, and have a fantastic, invigorating aroma. Effect: The wash left my skin feeling soft, and with a lovely scent. The oil really goes to work on dry bits, and sinks into the skin without leaving a greasy layer. My skin felt smooth and nourished. I loved the smell so much that I didn't wear any perfume. Verdict: The Spa Spies rank this amongst their favourite body oils – we nominated it for A Good Spa Guide Award for "pamper-perfect product" in 2011! |
