NEOM

NEOM were founded in 2005 by Nicola Elliott, as Natural Magic. They were famed for their cult organic "treatment candles". These sought-after essential oil and vegetable wax candles "work as a holistic treatment when you breathe in the scented air". The must-have candles were followed by a range of "home mist" fragrances, and, in 2007, NEOM Luxury Organics body products. NEOM body products do not contain any petrochemical products, parabens, SLS, PEGs or silicone.

They say: "NEOM Luxury Organics was created for a modern woman. A woman who has an interest in organic products, and cares what she puts on her skin as much as what she feeds herself, but absolutely refuses to compromise on efficacy and luxury when it comes to her beauty products. She's looking for a little more..."

We say: "There's so much to like about NEOM: a really luxurious range of organic products, beautifully delivered in delightfully simple packaging."

NEOM
Restore bath oil

100ml, RRP £32.00

Age: 30s

Skin type: Combination/dry

NEOM Restore bath oil at The Good Spa Guide

Application: One to two capfuls in your bath is more than enough.

What's in it? Jasmine, ginger and sandalwood: quite heavy, yet uplifting, with a faint, infiltrating ginger zing.

Effect: I could feel the oil moisturising my skin whilst lying in the bath, and afterwards. The strong scent lingered all evening, fragrancing the upper floor of my house. This luxurious oil is too heavy for early morning; it's perhaps best suited to a long and lingering Sunday afternoon pampering session.

Verdict: A brilliant bath oil, which makes the notion of bathing far more glamorous.

NEOM Luxury Organics Invigorating Organic Soaps at The Good Spa Guide

What do you want from a soap?

1 - It should get you clean.
2 - It should smell nice.
3 - It shouldn't do anything too astringenty to your skin.
4 - It shouldn't cost the earth.
5 - It should clean the sink/bath/entire bathroom while you sleep.

So how did the NEOM soaps do against the Basic Soap Checklist?

1 - The soap got me very clean, thank you. The bars are quite big so they kept on getting me clean, too.
2 - The blend of bergamot, lavender and white grapefruit smells gorgeous.
3 - The soap is super-gentle, and I was able to use it every day without that tightening feeling.
4 – The soap has 98.2% organically certified ingredients!
5 - I think I have a soap confused with Mary Poppins -- sorry.

Verdict: If you want a luxury organic soap, the NEOM soap ticks the checklist in all the right boxes. Just lovely.

NEOM Luxury Organics
Real Luxury Organic Body Scrub

332g, RRP £30

Skin type: Normal/combination

Neom Luxury Organics Real Luxury Organic Body Scrub at The Good Spa Guide

Application: Apply the sugar-and-oil mixture to wet skin for a gentle scrub; use on dry skin for some ultra-smoothing (if your skin isn't at all sensitive).

What's in it? Lavender, jasmine and Brazilian rosewood oils in safflower and jojoba oil, mixed with brown sugar. The scent is unusual – quite warm and earthy, not floral as I expected – but pleasant.

Effect: I used this scrub on dry skin as my skin can get a bit dry and dull, and it responds well to an abrasive rub-down! The sugar granules aren't too chunky, so the scrub is quite easy to smooth on. My skin felt silky-soft and lightly moisturised after rinsing.

Verdict: An effective scrub. A little pricey, though.

Refresh Organic Body Lotion

240ml, £23.50

Skin type: Dry

NEOM Luxury Organics Refresh Organic Body Lotion at The Good Spa Guide

Application: A little goes a long way and is absorbed quickly, without any stickiness. As I have very dry skin, I was able to apply two layers of the lotion without my skin feeling at all clogged.

What's in it? Sicilian lemon and fresh basil. Winner of the 2010 Bazaar Beauty Hot 100 Best Organic Body Skincare award, this lotion claims to be the ‘perfect morning pick me up’. The fragrance is definitely uplifting, but not overwhelming.

Effect: My skin felt noticeably smoother and firmer after use. Although labelled a body lotion, I couldn't resist slathering it onto my tired puffy face the morning after a party. The lotion immediately freshened and brightened my skin! Given these results and a not out-of-this-world price tag, it might just become my secret weapon.

Verdict: A luxurious lotion that fulfils its claim of delivering softer skin and a better mood!

NEOM Luxury Organics Refresh Organic Body Wash at The Good Spa Guide

Application: This shower gel is smooth and lathers up enough to massage it over your entire body. It doesn't get particularly frothy, but that is the case with most natural washes – it will get you clean, though!

What's in it? Sicilian lemon and fresh basil.

Effect: The fragrance really did wake me up in the morning with a little zing. I’m quite a quick person in the shower, although I have to admit it was a pleasure to add this NEOM wash in to my morning routine. £16 is good value if you are looking for that spa-at-home luxury experience.

Verdict: A luxurious and zingy shower experience.

Complete Bliss Organic Body Wash

240ml, £16

Reviewed by: Sybaritic Spy

Age: 50s

Skin type: Dry

NEOM Luxury Organics Complete Bliss Organic Body Wash at The Good Spa Guide

Application: This body wash is rich and lathers well without being too cloying.

What's in it? Moroccan rose with lemon and cracked pepper. It sounds like a weird combination, but rose is the main scent, the lemon freshens it, and the pepper adds a nice touch of spice.

Effect: I used this every morning in the shower for just over a month, and got less than halfway down the bottle. So, at £16 it is good value for money, especially as it is organic. It is gentle on my dry skin, too.

Verdict: Heavenly. This body wash is now in my top five products ever...
