Lavera
Lavera is a German company that has been producing natural, organic skincare products since 1987. Lavera was founded and is owned by Thomas Haase, who, after years of suffering dermatitis from the synthetic chemicals in skincare products, opened one of Germany's first natural product stores and started to grow herbs to use in his own skincare formulations.
They say: "In Latin lavera means 'the truth' - a beautiful translation for the dedication of both philosophy and commitment. We use raw plant materials, as much as possible from certified organic agriculture, our products are 100% free from synthetic perfumes, colourants and preservatives. And of course, we ensure skin compatibility - exclusively through tests with volunteers, together with skin specialists and allergists"
We say: "Lavera products are simple, natural, organic, cruelty-free and effective. They're also not ludicrously expensive. They don't fill their labels with meaningless copy and pseudo-science, either, which is a big point in their favour."

Application: The white cream did not become foamy on application but spread softly over my dry and quite sensitive skin. This formula has been dermatologically tested for skin tolerance, so does not irritate. What's in it?: Natural essential oils including certified organic wild rose. Effect: I loved the scent. It's incredibly spot-on for mimicking fresh roses blossoming on a lovely summer day. The wash also moisturises like a body lotion, just like it says on the box. I am pleased to say that this body wash did not disappoint. I loved it all the way down to the very last drop. Verdict: A gorgeously feminine body wash. 10 out of 10. |

Application: This product is created for dry and mature skin, and that certainly describes mine! The rose smell is quite mild, and the product is quite creamy and rich. What's in it?: Jojoba and sweet almond oils, shea butter, rose and hibiscus extract. Effect: It did moisturise my dry skin but it didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Top marks for being organic, though, and the 30ml size tube is very useful to carry in your handbag. Verdict: A pleasant moisturiser for keeping dry skin hydrated. |

Application: I sprayed this milky gel-like lotion onto my skin and it was quickly absorbed. It has a slightly musky but not unpleasant scent. Better than that of most fake tan products I've used before. What's in it?: Macadamia extract, aloe vera, rose and lavender water. Effect: Knowing Lavera's eco-friendly credentials, I have to confess that I wasn't convinced how effective the product would be -- especially as I have olive skin. My slightly inaccurate application on my feet was testament to the fact that it does work well, even on my skin tone. I had a golden tan line across the bottom of my toes. I continued to use the spray every few days for a few weeks. I was complimented on my glowing tan on several occasions. The shimmer spray also lived up to its name in that it left my skin with a very subtle gold shimmer. Verdict: I was pleased with the ease of application, golden result and that fact that the product isn't full of chemical nasties. |

Application: This is a clear gel with suspended white grains. The wash has a fantastically clean, sharp and zingy citrus scent which immediately woke me up. What's in it?: Organic vervain and lime. Effect: The exfoliating grains were a good size and I could feel them working as I lathered the thick gel onto my skin. The product left my skin feeling delightfully smooth and smelling fresh. Verdict: Great for your morning shower. I would definitely buy this product again. |
