Detox treatments and packages
Given up the vino? Chucked the fast food? Aiming for a new, purer you? Get through the headaches, blotchy skin and cravings phase by taking time off in a spa. Hide away for a day or two and return to your adoring public gaze when your skin has reached that glowing, healthy peak.
1 Stobo Castle, Peeblesshire
Stobo Castle is relaxing, with friendly staff, and a wide range of treatments and activities. We've visited twice now and each time have been struck by how beautiful the place is - what better setting to relax and review your plans.
Stobo's therapists will help you plan out a personally tailored programme tailored to your needs, letting you make the most of your visit. Their Serailbad Mud Room is a good detox option: smother your face and body with nourishing organic mud and then relax as herb-scented steam and a warm shower send those toxins swirling down the drain. Braver souls may wish to try the Ionithermie Super Detox, an electrical treatment which stimulates the circulation and increases lymph drainage.

Perfect for: Creating a space in your life for decision making.
2 Stoke Park Club, Stoke Poges
For an indulgent detox, if that isn't a complete contradiction in terms, visit Stoke Park Club's luxurious spa for a residential or day retreat. We loved the helpful staff and the fact that the spa isn't aligned to one particular product house - you can be sure that they've selected treatments they really value.
Their Detox and Revive day package sounds like a good bet if you've overindulged. An Aromatherapy Associates hydrotherapy bath includes a relaxing underwater massage to release tension, followed by a SPC Detoxifying ginger scrub. Finish with an invigorating SPC Warm Citrus Ritual massage and then relax in their atrium, watching the fish swim by in the spa's five metre tropical aquarium... bliss.

3 Ragdale Hall Health Hydro, Melton Mowbray
Ragdale is the original dedicated country-house spa retreat, and they offer Health Farm Holidays from 2 to 7 nights in length - the perfect opportunity for a detox. Choose from a huge range of treatments - the Clarins Spa Detox Body Wrap is an intensive deep-cleansing detox treatment, which boosts the circulation and helps eliminate impurities, or try the Decleor Moroccan Spice Earth Detox: a combination of aromatherapy massage and exfoliation for face and body. Holistic therapies are also on offer, along with health and beauty advice.

4 Bailiffscourt Hotel, Sussex
If your body is a temple, there is no better place to worship than at the Temple spa at Bailiffscourt. Start your day in the long narrow pool which just tempts you to swim and swim, laze in the outdoor hot tub, and then waft off to the therapy rooms for treatments inspired by the Mediterranean. Their Serious Detox is a half day combination of treatments to cleanse and detoxify including exfoliation, a hot linen wrap and a rejuvenating massage. Finish your day with a long walk on nearby Climping beach. Realise that you have unwound, relaxed and flushed out both toxins and those nasty aggressive feelings that modern life induces.

This fresh-scented raw cane sugar scrub also contains shea butter and coconut, jojoba, rosehip, pomegranate, cranberry and avocado oils for an intense moisturising effect.
